Aston Villa close to completing signing of Man City’s Luiz- Telegraph

Luiz & Man City

Douglas Luiz joined Manchester City in July of 2017 from Brazilian outfit Vasco da Gama for a fee believed to be around £10m.

However, Luiz has yet to feature for Man City and has instead spent the past two seasons on loan in La Liga with Girona.

Luiz’s first season in Spain wasn’t too great as he made just 17 appearances across all competitions, many of which came from the bench.

This past season saw the Brazilian’s game time increase as he competed in 29 games for Girona.

Luiz is naturally a central midfielder but he can also play as an attacking and defensive mid.

Villa’s 8th of the summer?

After two years with the Manchester club, it now looks as though the 21-year-old will leave without ever playing for the Citizens.

That is because, according to the Telegraph, Aston Villa are closing in on his signature.

Villa are said to have agreed a £15m fee with City for Luiz’s services.

Should Luiz make the switch to Villa Park, he will be Villa’s 8th signing of the summer.

The newly-promoted side have not been shy in the 2019 summer market as they look to fight off relegation.

Dean Smith’s side have already signed Wesley, Tyrone Mings, Matt Targett, Ezri Konsa, Anwar El Ghazi, Jota and Kortney House.

The latest of which was Ezri Konsa from Brentford.
