Ilkay Gundogan gives Manchester City future update amid Dortmund links

Gundogan’s time in Manchester

Ilkay Gundogan joined Manchester City three years ago from German outfit, Borussia Dortmund.

City are believed to have been paid around £24m for the German’s services.

Since making the switch to England Gundogan has gone on to play 114 games for the Citizens across all competitions.

In those games, Gundogan has scored 17 and assisted 17. He has also won two league titles, two League Cups, one FA Cup and one Community Shield.

Gundogan on his City future

The 28-year-old now has just over a year remaining on his current Man City deal.

Gundogan’s future in Manchester has been somewhat up in the air over the past few months.

The midfielder has even been linked with a return to his former club, Dortmund.

However, in a recent interview, Gundogan has provided a fresh update on his future, in which he claims to know nothing about any interest from Dortmund.

Gundogan also states that there will be talks with City over the summer with the Manchester Evening News claiming Man City’s confidence has grown that he will sign a new deal, despite interest from Dortmund.

When speaking about his future and Dortmund interested, Gundogan stated:

“I would know about that [interest from Dortmund], I know nothing, I have not spoken to anyone.

“There will be talks in the summer and then we’ll see.

“I’m not dissatisfied with Manchester City and that’s why I would not say that I really want to leave because the club wants to extend my contract.”As quoted by the Manchester Evening News.
