Clarke to Tottenham
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham are hopeful of making Leeds United’s Jack Clarke their first signing of the summer.
Should Spurs land Clarke, he would also be their first first-team signing since January of 2018.
The ES claim a fee for Clarke could be around £8.5m plus add-ons.
Clarke is a product of Leeds United’s youth system and was only promoted to their senior side in July of 2018.
The 18-year-old made 25 appearances across all competitions this past season, in which he scored two and assisted two.
20 of those appearances would come from the bench with Clarke completing 90 minutes just twice last campaign.
With Clarke so young and inexperienced, you may have thought Spurs would loan out the winger for the upcoming season, should they sign him.
However, the above-mentioned report from the Evening Standard alleges Clarke will be competing for a first-team role at Tottenham.
Of course, when Dele Alli first joined Tottenham from MK Dons, he too was thrust straight into the first-team picture but at least Alli was a regular starter before moving to Spurs.
Ndombele Spurs’ top target
The report from the Evening Standard also gives an update on Tottenham and Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele.
Spurs are said to be still working on a deal for the French midfielder, who is allegedly their top target this summer.
Ndombele played 49 times last season for Lyon, scoring three and assisting eight.
Spurs’ Premier League rivals Manchester City had previously been linked with Ndombele.
However, City now look to be focusing their attention on Atletico Madrid’s Rodri instead of Ndombele.
