Tottenham’s Serge Aurier freak injury
Tottenham defender Serge Aurier has picked up an injury at the African Cup of Nations.
In a twist, Aurier’s injury was sustained while the footballer was sitting of the Ivory Coast bench.
On Monday at the African Cup of Nations, the Ivory Coast beat Mali 1-0.
Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha scored the winner for the Elephants.
Aurier watched the match from the sidelines due to a problem with his ankle, however that didn’t stop the Spurs defender hurting himself further.
As confirmed by Reuters, Aurier hurt his wrist against Mali:
Ivory Coast captain Serge Aurier managed to injure himself again at the Africa Cup of Nations without playing — hurting his right hand while banging the table to encourage his team mates.
Aurier, still recovering from an ankle injury, sat out Monday’s 1-0 win over Mali in the last 16 but left the stadium with his hand in a splint.
