Griezmann says goodbye to Atletico Madrid
The big news on Tuesday the 14th of May was Antoine Griezmann announcing he will be leaving Atletico Madrid this summer.
During his five-year stint in Madrid, the Frenchman scored 133 and assisted 50 in 256 appearances.
Griezmann also helped Atletico secure the Europa League and Spanish Super Cup.

Griezmann is now being heavily linked with a move to FC Barcelona with reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano stating Barca are ready to trigger the forward’s €125m release clause.

If Griezmann does move to Barcelona, this could create a big problem for both Philippe Coutinho and Liverpool.
The Mirror and various other outlets reported on Wednesday that if Barca do sign Griezmann this could be the end of Coutinho’s Barca career.
Coutinho’s agent has since moved to deny these claims:
“It’s untrue that Griezmann is going to replace Philippe at Barcelona.
“I don’t know why they are saying that. I don’t know about that and that’s why I don’t want to talk anymore, but it’s false.”As quoted by Goal.
However, given Coutinho’s poor form since moving to the Nou Camp and the supposed imminent arrival of Griezmann who can play on the left and through the middle, there may be some truth to it.
If it is the case and Coutinho is sold this summer, Liverpool will lose out on €25m.
The reason for this, as per the Evening Standard, is twofold.
Firstly, if Coutinho were to reach 100 games for Barcelona, Liverpool would be due €20m.
But given Coutinho can only rack up a maximum off 77 games by the end of this season, if he is sold in the summer, Liverpool would obviously miss out on that €20m.
Secondly, Liverpool are also due €5m should Coutinho win the Champions League with Barcelona.
As he can’t do that this year, it would be another bonus the Reds lose out on if Coutinho departs in the upcoming window.
